about

Student Fellows

Our ML for Social Good centre has received project proposals from partners with socially responsible projects in need of data science and machine learning assistance. Student fellows will work closely with their assigned supervisors, meeting weekly to collaborate on the project, which will culminate in a final presentation.

Honours and Masters students from the University of Auckland can apply to participate in the 2023 Student Fellows program for either semester one or semester two, an eight to ten-week full-time data science project that provides technical mentorship from UOA researchers and advanced graduate students.

Throughout the semester, participants will receive weekly check-ins and mentorship meetings from faculty, research scientists, advanced graduate students, or post-docs. The program also includes technical training and discussions related to project and data science topics.

The main objective of the fellowship is to provide student fellows with an exciting ML learning experience while contributing to real-world problems with social impact.
